How to relieve upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

If u only have stomach discomfort, try taking a leak even if u don't feel like it (might sound simple but it works for me)
If it's worse than that, cont reading...

2 weeks ago i experienced severe nausea, vomiting & diarrhea
I started vomiting blood the 3rd time, vomited up to 7 times & diarrhea 4-5 times in only 2 hours
Even the slightest movement just after i had diarrhea made my stomach upset
It hurt so much i couldn't even stand straight

After going to the hospital ( with some help from my mom) , the doctor concluded it was probably food poisoning & the blood was from too much vomiting hurting my throat
I was quite skeptical about that since i only had oats for breakfast & it occurred few mins later, but what can i do? It's not like i have a M.D.
Anyway, luckily it wasn't life-threatening as i'm aware that i have a vry weak body

Doctor recommended barley but after consuming it, i vomited another 3 times & had diarrhea twice more
I guess my weaker-than-average body couldn't handle it...
So i did some research & found out by trial the safest diet for me is saltine crackers & sips of electrolyte drinks

Too bad those diets are only temporary as they don't provide enough nutrition
2 days later, I started feeling confused, disoriented & had to rest a lot
So i tried my normal diet the 3rd day, only oats & fruits & vege but my weak body couldn't recover fast enough to eat proper diets, soon i began vomiting & having diarrhea again...

I suffer from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), gastric pain & sore throat before i started vomiting, which is even harder for me
I need lots of water for my sore throat, but if i drink more than sips only, i tend to have diarrhea & vomiting
IBS makes me even more prone to diarrhea & gastric pain hurts more when i was actively vomiting & couldn't eat anything
I even suspected gastric ulcer bleeding when i vomited blood
I think these are what that are delaying my recovery...
 It was like hell for me, FML...

So, for those average ppl without other health complications, i think this'll help-

1. 1st of all, don't eat or drink anything for about 4 hours if u're actively vomiting or diarrhea
(I tried a bite of banana when i'm still vomiting & it doesn't help at all, vomited it out few mins later)

2. Then start eating saltine crackers & electrolyte drinks, oral rehydration salts, soda pops (stir to reduce carbonation) whichever available ( eat & drink as least as possible)

Saltines help soak up excess bile
Soda works as an acid neutralizer
BRAT diet helps too- Banana Rice Applesauce & Toast
Avoid dairy & food or drinks that are too hot or cold

Most importantly, keep your diet bland for around 48 hours since u don't wanna irritate your stomach which is still recovering

3. Eat small meals throughout the day, chew well, rest after meals-

U need to go easy on your stomach, smaller meals means less stress on your stomach
The better u chew your food, the easier it is for your stomach to digest
Rest after meals means more blood & oxygen to your intestines which helps digestion instead of (example: more blood to your eyes if u watch tv)
(Actually small 20-30mins walks outdoors is better for digestion but only do so after u've recovered since u need to stay still to reduce nausea )

4. Lastly, get lots of rest for your body to recover & hope u get well soon

Stimulate your Brain!

As we know, we need to keep our brain active else it'll rot
1. Jump start your brain when u wake up by stretching your whole body, wave your hands & legs, wiggle your fingers & toes
Open the window & take in long deep breaths of fresh oxygen
Doing these will activate nerves that stimulate your brain

2. Exercise- Simple physical exercises like walking or running gets more blood & oxygen into your brain & generates new brain cells
Mental exercises like crossword, Sudoku & mind-teasers also increases your brain cells
If u prefer a more challenging game, which is also Game of the Year 2009 & 2010, check League of Legends out

3. Try something new or different to keep your brain cells guessing
Use your recessive hand instead of the dominant one for simple tasks

4. Eat "Food for Brain"- Best brain foods r complex carbs, low Glycemic Index food that provides steady blood sugar
Your brain runs on blood sugar but prefers a steady supply rather than wild fluctuations

Omega 3 rich fish & nuts, whole grain food, olive oil (don't use it in cooking, only add it to cooked food), beans, legumes...
More specific are fish oil, wild salmon, flax seeds, walnuts, sardines, soybeans, oatmeal, bran, blueberries, acai berries, blackcurrants, pumpkin seeds, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, tomatoes, Anti-oxidant rich coffee beans, cocoa beans
With so many varieties to choose from, u can try a different combination every day

P/S  Nvr skip a healthy breakfast, it's the most important meal of the day
Best time for breakfast is 7 - 9 am where blood circulation concentrates in your stomach

(Heat from cooking not only damages Omega 3 fatty acid, it can also turn them into harmful substances, not to mention eating too much fish may result in toxic poisoning such as mercury & PCB)

So u might prefer getting Omega 3 directly from fish oil

It should also be noted that at least 8 popular brands of fish oil supplements contained excessive levels of PCB, including Nature Made, CVS/pharmacy, Rite Aid, GNC, Solgar, Twinlab, Now Health, Omega Protein and Pharmavite, avoid them at all costs

I found that Kirkland's not only remove PCBs and dioxins, its Omega 3 concentration is also maximized

Nonetheless, researchers from Harvard's School of Public Health in the Journal of the American Medical Association (2006) reported that the benefits of fish intake generally far outweigh the potential risks, so u can still eat fish (moderately), only pity is u won't be able to get the most out of its Omega 3

5. Read Write Research- Surf the net, Google anything that spikes your interest( i have around 20 pages opened in Firefox now, 10 of which are just for research as i blog this, another 10 unrelated to this blog lolz), Google words u don't understand, write blogs

6. Watch quality TV: U can also watch shows that are thought-provoking such as Criminal Minds, House M.D. , The Mentalist, Monk, Psych & Dexter (Dexter contains nudity, sex, violence, gore, profanity, drugs, for Adults only)

Anime- Death Note (or read the manga online if u're free, it's better imo),  Code Geass, Spiral: Bonds of Reasoning, One Outs & Detective Conan
These shows include using mind games to outwit opponents or use logical reasoning to solve mysteries

7. Get enough sleep- Sleep deprivation is your brain's worst enemy
Too little sleep may cause impaired memory & thought processes
Optimal amount of sleep for adults are around 7-8 hours & 9-10 for teens

According to human's biological clock which is vry precise, 11pm-3am is when your body starts to detoxify
Detoxification breaks down toxins in your blood which flows into your brain

Sleeping quality is as important as its quantity
U get around 5 periods of REM sleep if u sleep 8 hours full
REM sleep starts 90mins after u're asleep
1st period only lasts 10mins, gradually increasing with each period
Last period starts around 7 hours after sleeping & may last up to 1 hour which is the best  time to be asleep
It's normal to wake up 7 hours after u sleep cos u're just about to go into REM sleep, which means u're still not in deep sleep
So don't skimp on sleeping, even if it's only an hour cos u'll lose 1 whole hour of mind-boosting REM sleep, which will affect your ability to think properly

But remember, too much of anything is bad, don't drink lots of coffee a day then sleep the nxt whole day lol
The same applies to watching tv

I'm currently playing League of Legends & in love wif it!
It's a real-time strategy game evolved from DotA
If u haven't heard of DotA before, u're missing something!
It's a complicated game where lots of mind games & strategies can be employed
If u're smart & skilled, u can even feel the thrill of owning a full hp enemy when u're low hp!

However, League of Legends is easier to learn yet more fast-paced, more of a team game, more reliant on skill instead of luck, more aggressive, competitive & fun!
Not to mention no lags/dc (Client-server network model, even if u do dc, u can still reconnect), noobs/players out of your league (matchmaking system), leavers (leaver buster system) & maphackers (no documented case, even if someone finds a way to hack, i'm sure it'll be fixed shortly & their account banned)
New updates every 2 weeks to keep u from getting bored
